Final game of the season

Well, our year ended last Saturday with a tie. Our Tomcats played the “other” undefeated team, Sugar Grove. It was, in fact, a great game.

It was though, the end of an era for me. My grandson Gabriel (a.k.a. Bling) was playing his last game with Coach Aaron Malone and his coaching squad. It has been a very good term for me, my wife Denise, and our grandson. For Gabe, a chance to learn a life lesson in what sportsmanship means and for us, a chance to spend some treasured time with Gabriel.

The friends Denise and I have made over the last three years will remain rich in memory and will not soon be forgotten.

My intention is to keep the website online for a while and will update with any content sent to me. I will also post updates on our teams collective football careers.

Once again; if anyone has pictures from the 2008 Tomcats season, please send to me at: Gabe@tomcatsfootball.com

Thanks to the Coaches and Parents of the East Aurora Tomcats as well as the entire Aurora Superstars family.

Soft Fall Rains

October 7: Light rain, mild temps. Gabe and I thought we would practice for sure. When we got to our practice field we were surprised to find only a gaggle of geese. I was surprised that we never received a call to let us know practice was off. Gabe thought that everyone must have just figured practice was called off. I disagreed thinking that that would be a real coincidence.

I did stand outside the truck and enjoyed the soft rain for a while.

Rain out game.

Great game on the 20th! Got the news prior to game time that we will not be playing Sugar Grove after the rain out of the previous week. Gabe and I were checking out the stats on Sunday the 21st and saw that Sugar Grove is also 3 and 0 at this time. By our estimate the Tomcats have the number 1 defense. Both Sugar Grove and the Tomcats have 12 points against but Sugar Grove has all 12 in one game.

Personally, I would like to see the Rained out game played; if not officially then maybe a pickup game. Especially if both teams end up with an 8 and 0 record.

I wonder what everyone else thinks.

First week of September

Great week with the Tomcats. Coach Parents meeting was held on the 3rd of September. Coach Malone was emphatic in saying that even in the rain, as long as there was no lightening, the team would practice. Well, the very next night, we had a torrential rain storm. The team loved the opportunity to get soaking wet and run scrimmages. The coach (reluctantly) went for it. What a great time. It took me way back (way way back) to my own childhood.

The team played a great game on the 6th. They were exceptionally coached and played beyond themselves. The Tomcats sideline had a great time.

If anyone could please forward me the name of the team we played today (09-06), I would be grateful.

August 30 Win Over Vikings

Great game. Injury to an athelete on the Vikings in the third quarter. As we left the stadium the announcer verified that he had a stinger and would be fine in a day or two. Still need pictures for the site as the "mud bowl" of 2006 kinda trashed my old camera. 1 out of 5 shots are usable.
